The European Union of the Deaf Youth is a European non-profit organisation, which comprises of national organisations for Deaf young people and individuals. Since 1987, we have been working towards a better future for Deaf young people in Europe, in the area of education, employment, mobility, politics and many more.

Following the end of the contract of the current Media and Outreach Officer, EUDY is seeking its replacement to start the 1st March 2018, working for a duration of ten months (with possibility of extension). The Media and Outreach Officer will be mainly responsible for the media, the merchandising and the membership issues in the organisation, by releasing news articles, organising publications and outreaching to current and new members. Thus contributing to our internal and external communication strategies and to manage our relations with the organisations for Deaf young people, the Deaf youth community and the media.

Main responsibilities:

  • Media
  • Social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
  • Updating and maintenance of EUDY website
  • Production and design of publications (newsletters, articles, campaigns, etc.)
  • Liaise with Full Members (questions, information, promotion, etc.)
  • Merchandising (orders, sales, billings, deliveries, etc.)
  • Qualifications and experience required:

    • Experience working within Deaf organisations/board/committee
    • Experience with media projects (for example campaigns)
    • Experience with camera tools
    • Proven ability to use electronic office equipment (Word processing, Excel, PowerPoint, Email,Internet, etc.)
    • Proven ability to handle programs of photo and video editingFor this position, a candidate must also:
    • Be a Sign Language user
    • Be at least 18 years old
    • Be a national or a permanent resident of a Member State of the Council of Europe
    • Be entitled to his or her full rights as citizen
    • Meet the character requirements for the duties involved
    • Be physically fit to perform the duties linked to the postKnowledge, skills and abilities:
    • Skills in photography and videography
    • Knowledge and understanding of the meaning of Social Media
    • Knowledge and understanding of Deaf culture and Deaf issues
    • Fluent in International Signs
    • Communicative (written) skills in English, at least level B1 according to the CEFR
    • Able to work under pressure
    • Able to learn new thingsWe offer:
